Speaking & Professional Engagement

Helping educators turn ambitious ideas into everyday practice.

I speak, facilitate workshops, and coach educators on science instruction, curriculum design, and purposeful technology use. My work connects the questions teachers face in the classroom with the planning, practice, and support that make new approaches usable.

I bring more than 15 years in education, seven years of science department leadership, and experience in corporate learning and higher education. Across these settings, I focus on helping people understand complex ideas and put them to work.

Selected Speaking Engagements

AP Annual Conference

Presented on mastery-based grading in high school mathematics and science, bringing a classroom perspective to how assessment can recognize student understanding and support continued learning.

Professional Learning & Educator Development

SEM workshops · Co-facilitator

Hands-on scientific instrumentation

Co-facilitated more than six hours of hands-on scanning electron microscope workshops for dozens of science educators in Collier County. This work connected advanced scientific instrumentation with classroom investigation and student research.

Curriculum and educator coaching

Supported teachers through observation, collaborative planning, curriculum review, and instructional feedback during seven years of science department leadership. As adjunct faculty at Florida SouthWestern State College, I coach future teachers in standards-aligned lesson design, accessible materials, and purposeful technology selection.

Ongoing Professional Engagement

Vernier Science Education

My engagement draws on classroom experience using Vernier probeware and data analysis to support measurement, graphing, and evidence-based explanations, alongside K3–12 curriculum alignment and educator development.

AP Chemistry Reader · 2025–present

College Board

Apply national scoring standards to student responses and bring that perspective back to assessment design, scientific reasoning, and instructional feedback.

Topics for Tailored Sessions

Designing science content others can use

Build clear investigations, teacher guidance, and assessments around a shared learning goal. Examine how curriculum alignment, usable instructions, and thoughtful feedback help educators adapt a resource to their own classrooms.

From data collection to scientific reasoning

Connect hands-on investigations and probeware with the thinking students need to do: choosing measurements, interpreting graphs, examining uncertainty, and using evidence to explain scientific relationships.

Professional learning beyond the workshop

Design preparation, practice, feedback, and follow-up around the skills educators need to apply. Explore how reusable resources and blended learning can support implementation across a department or program.

Purposeful AI in teaching and training

Develop practical workflows for planning, resource creation, and feedback while preserving professional judgment. Focus on source verification, accessibility, and clear expectations for responsible use.

How I Work

I start with the work participants need to do. Sessions combine clear explanations with authentic examples, time to try an approach, and feedback on how to adapt it. Depending on the engagement, that work may become a lesson, an investigation, a job aid, or an implementation plan that participants can continue developing afterward.
