As a science teacher at Ida S. Baker High School, Deeter knows the importance of trying out new ideas and finding the best ways to meet the needs of her students.

"She spends countless hours perfecting her lesson plans to ensure they not only align to standards, but are also interesting and engaging," her nomination letter states. "She is not afraid of trying new, inventive ideas in order to make a connection with her students."

In addition to classroom time, Deeter volunteers on campus and is part of a team charged with creating chemistry exams.
